Art + Flea Do What You Love Series: Jason Tom Human Beatbox from Art+Flea on Vimeo.

Jason Tom: I started beatboxing when I was 4-years-old, imitating to Michael Jackson music, and I got into performing 10 years ago after I saw this Asian American beatboxer. She rocked the crowd and I didn't know you can perform it. But I did this all the time at home and I said why not put it out there. Get out there and perform. Perpetuate the art form of beatboxing.

JT: I love beatboxing, because that's my instrument. People look at me and they're like, "he doesn't look like a beatboxer." I get on stage and surprise them.

JT: Growing up in Hawaii I used to be a shy kid. You know? I didn't really participate in activities. For beatboxing, it actually helped me get out there, go to events and perform.Get out of my comfort zone, and get out of my shell.
