Jason Tom Biography
Jason Tom, born on November 21st, 1982, is Honolulu's Chinatown native, fourth-generation American of Hawaii Chinese descent, and Hawaii's own World Human Beatbox All Star Champion. He was born again and dedicated his life to God on October 24th, 2008. He is an ambassador of the fifth element and youngest element of hip hop culture called the "human beatbox" or the human drum machine. As an urban vocal percussionist, musician and voice actor, he vocalizes the drum machines, boots and cats, Optimus Prime, kick drums, hi-hats, snares, Motown bass, tom-toms, crash cymbals, turn tables, ipu, ukulele, didgeridoo, and synthesizer sound by audible recall with an inner ear for musical instruments.
Hawaii hip hop pioneers DJ Kutmaster Spaz, B-boy Skill Roy, and beatboxers Radical Rob "Onekea," Gizmo, Re-Run, and Joevon Brown paved the way in the 1980s and beyond for music human beatbox artists like Ted de Oliveira, Jason Tom, and Mikee Mic. Jason Tom, Wiz Kalika, and Biggie Gz established the Human Beatbox Academy that facilitated school tour assemblies, workshops, after school programs, and outreach concerts. They hosted and organized events for beatboxers in the state of Hawaii and Hawaiian islands that equipped beatbox champions and crews.
Jason Tom was featured in award-winning documentaries, conventions, championships, Beatbox Battle TV, Swiss Beatbox, States of Beatbox, HumanBeatbox.com, and BeatboxSpot. He was officially nominated by Beatbox Battle World Championship organizers and judges as the Hawaii All Star and professional vocal percussion artist for the World Cup of beatboxing to represent the United States.
He has presented at TEDx Talks, KS EdTech, ReThink conferences, universities, and colleges. He's been featured on the Talk Story Unscripted Podcast Talk Show, Team Lally Radio Talk Show, Art of Life Talk Show, and Shaka Talk Show.

Jason Tom is an American beatboxer and slam poet who has represented Hawaii at the sixth International Human Beatbox Convention and the first and fifth American Beatbox Championship in Brooklyn. He received the Hawaii Scene Choice Award for Best Solo Human Beatbox Music Performer, TEDx Presenter Award for his “Vocal Groove” presentation, among other accolades. He co-founded the Human Beatbox Academy, where he leads outreach performances, speaking engagements, and workshops for students of all ages.
