First Inaugural Rock The School Bells Hawaii Conference

October 17, 2017 at 12:20PM

The next day after I performed at US Vets at Barber's Point Kapolei with Prisma Dance, I arrived at the First Inaugural Rock The School Bells Hawaii Conference at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Campus. I was invited by g-girl Yoda to co-teach with her the dance and breakdance workshop. I taught students of Dole Middle School, Kalaukaua Middle School and Farrington High School the background and foundation for beatboxing and the funk style dance called popping with the Michael Jackson Billie Jean dance routine that features the side glide and moonwalk also known as the backslide. Here I performed it a cappella with no microphone with the beatboxing that combines the Billie Jean dance.

Moonwalk At Moon Festival on the Chinatown Cultural Plaza Moongate Stage

October 12, 2017 at 12:16PM

I dedicated this set to my father who passed on this Father's Day for the 3rd Annual Moon Festival at the historic Chinatown Cultural Plaza on the legendary Moongate Stage in Downtown Honolulu. I also performed my staple routine of "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson that combines beatboxing, the dance, side glide, and moonwalk or backslide on the Moongate Stage.

Performing police siren sounds and my original "Boots and Cats" beatbox routine.

Happy Labor Day Weekend

September 1, 2017 at 08:15AM

Happy Labor Day Weekend to you Jason Tom blog reader! Yes you! I commend each of you that has found your labor of love so that you can purpose each day that is directed toward your endeavor and goal in life. Maybe, you are discovering what your labor of love is today and right at this moment. What is my labor of love you ask? Most definitely, my labor of love is my faith in God, beatboxing, and mathematics, without a shadow of a doubt, it is my biggest passion and deeper is the purpose that propels me to serve others. Beneath it all, it's family, ʻohana, my Word of Life family, the body of Christ brothers and sisters, aloha, compassion, empathy, understanding, and a sense of community. Also being an uncle to my niece.

Speaking of Labor of love, I want to thank Ar…

Her Math Tutor Can Dance

August 26, 2017 at 04:03AM

I want to thank those of you (and you know who you are) that made it to my Uplift opening showcase at Ala Moana Centerstage that also featured one of the new students of the Human Beatbox Academy and dancers of reLITE, Prisma Dance, Playground Dance Studio, and the Kazu Clan. You know I am a child of the 1980's, because I beatbox and moonwalk as though the 1980's were yesterday. My math tutee has a sense of humor in how she shared my video of my Uplift opener at Ala Moana Centerstage and her hashtag read, "my math tutor can dance." What? A mathematician who can beatbox and moonwalk and dance? Get out! That is unheard of, how is that logical? Yes, it is possible.

I love her. My niece loves to dance when I beatbox for her. She's adorable and she calls me, \
I venerate our US Veterans and those serving in our Armed Forces! When I received that call to visit and perform for and honor our American Veterans at US Vets Barber's Point Kapolei. No doubt, do I not just answer that call, I settle that call. I met an incredible veteran by the name of Charles with great focus and head on his shoulders and with words of edification and encouragement he and I prayed for one another. Thank you Nicole Lam, Prisma Dance, and to our great US Veterans. To those who served our country, I salute you great men and women for having served our great and beautiful nation called America. To those who are currently serving in our Armed Forces in the army, navy, air force, coastal guard, and marine corps, I too honor, venerate and I appreciate your service and I too salute you brave men and women.

This is just one of the reasons why I get out there to do what I do day in and day out. Night in and night out. I am stoked there is no clocking in and no clocking out. No complaints here in doing my line of work. I don't tire in my work, because I don't mind working what I love and working with excellent people. I love being able to answer the call, share these gifts, devote time and talent to uplift the young patients at Shriners Hospital for Children. This is bigger than my gift and bigger than me, myself and I. It's about helping and assisting and uplifting others. To be kind to one another, and to genuinely care for our neighbor, our family. It's one of the most rewarding experiences to see the many smiles and to hear the laughter of those patients. Thank you Nicole Lam, Prisma Dance, Angela Keen, and Shriners Hospital for Children!
So great to reunite with Angela Keen! Tonight, I had an honor to volunteer my time at Shriners Hospital for Children with Prisma Dance as we cheered the young patients there up. I beatboxed and danced for them and offered beatbox lessons. They rocked the microphone and all. They were incredible! I loved every moment, especially when one of the patients in his wheelchair rocked the beatboxing on my microphone and my dance buddy Henry danced to his beatboxing. That was something I had not seen in all 13 of my years performing live. It was rewarding to see their smiles and the patients enjoying himself and herself. All of the dancers did great too from ballet, jazz, acrobatics to hip hop, and our dance contest. I loved it all!

As for Angela Keen, growing up in Honolulu I watched her as a news anchor and I didn't think then that she'd one day interview me at the First Inaugural TEDx Honolulu Conference years back. She asked me great questions. She also knows my good friend Jody Kamisato and I told her he said, \
Spent quality time performing music, dance, and sharing words of edification, encouragement, honor, praise, desserts, and prayers with Prisma Dance to our brave and strong American veterans at US Vets in Barber's Point Kapolei last week. Here Hiro and I improvised on our viola and beatbox collaboration. We had blessed time.

I just followed up with them and heard my episodes could launch December of this year or January of next year. People who have written shared with me that they can't wait and are buzzing about it right at this moment. Me too. Very exciting. Stay plugged in! I will keep you posted!

I am grateful and blessed to have an honor to have volunteered my time with Prisma Dance and to have performed for, converse with and pray for our brave and strong American veterans at US Vets in Barber's Point Kapolei last week. I am grateful to our American veterans for having served our great and beautiful nation.

2017 is wrapping up. What a fruitful year 2017 is. The biggest loss was when I lost my father on this Father's Day. I've honored my father's last wishes for what he wants and wanted me to fulfill in life. I am also working on another one of his final wish for me. My father didn't make it for his 85th birthday. There is not a day I don't think of my father or miss him. Father God has shown my earthly father at his best in my visions and dreams since his passing on multiple occasions that brought great comfort and peace.

Staying productive with the beatboxing....

I will meet with clients in the coming weeks to discuss potential tours, endeavors, performances, projects, and what not.
