What Influenced Me to Start Beatboxing

I get asked from time to time how I got influenced into what I do with the art of beatboxing. To summarize, it essentially started off (during the pre-YouTube era) with Michael Jackson's music, then Michael Jackson as an artist, which gradually expanded to life experiences and other influences including Rahzel, Elaine Chao, and more along the way (i.e. Bobby McFerrin, Michael Winslow, Doug E. Fresh, etc.). To be more specific and in depth... I decided to devote this blog entry about my adventure into the beatboxing realm and the story starts off below this paragraph...

The Movement featuring ABDC Quest Crew on DVD

Last month (July 12th) I opened up for America's Best Dance Crew (ABDC) Quest Crew for the Movement at the McKinley High School Auditorium.

I'm also an alumnus of McKinley High School, and I was featured in McKinley High School's student newspaper the Pinion (the final issue for the 2008-2009 school year) less than a month prior. It was fun performing in front of a crowd expecting to see a full on dance show, and as the crowd settled in I opened up the dance event as a solo human beat box act with a breakdown boogie down near the end.

Jason kind of reminds me a gecko; a gecko always adapts and recovers from all the hardships he went through. The curves in Tom Thum's "Jason Tom" logo design looks really cool!

It's nice to see Jason's personality imbued in a gecko designed by him. Cool, fitting, totally Jason lol. I like it!
