Rahzel
Known as the Godfather of Noyze, two-time Grammy Award-winning vocal percussionist, Rahzel, has mastered, then redefined the art of beatboxing, emerging as a true virtuoso in this quintessential musical art form. Rahzel doesn’t play musical instruments – he is the instrument. His singular ability to re-create full songs without instrumentation, sing a chorus, and provide the musical melody simultaneously, all while providing a plethora of sound effects on a whim, creates an inimitable visual and sound experience. Rahzel is most popularly known as member emeritus of hip hop’s cutting edge band, The Roots, and has lent his …

Prisma Dance presents Creation at Paliku Theatre

November 16, 2016 at 12:14AM
Creation at Paliku Theatre

I am excited to be able to share that I will be beatboxing in a collaborative effort for Creation, a production presented by Prisma Dance, for eight shows at the Paliku Theatre at Windward Community College this November 25th-27th and December 2nd-3rd. Creation is a premier production that presents the beauty of God’s creation through an artistic collaboration of dance, music, acrobatics, art, and poetry. Each piece focus’ on displaying God’s invisible qualities and characteristics through what He has created. Inspiration is drawn from Genesis 1 and Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse". NextNext Hawaii Contest Wraps Up

November 2, 2016 at 04:37PM

Back in May of this year I was contacted directly through e-mail about NextNext Hawaii. An exciting new project, a music competition and charity event sponsored by McDonald's owner-operators of Hawaii. To discover "Sounds that Spark Change!" The contest began August 1st and wrapped up on October 31st. I chose the Ronald McDonald House Hawaii charity, because it's dear to my heart to help those who need it most, especially our children and families.

The NextNext Hawaii Team is currently verifying and tabulating all of the votes. I want to thank each and everyone who voted for me and or for your favorite musician, artist or band! We supported good talent and music, good food and all for a good cause. Over 40 contestants and the Top 5 generated approximately 52,715…

Harry and Cheryl Salem at Word of Life

May 16, 2016 at 08:02PM

Harry and Cheryl Salem are a powerhouse couple for Jesus, and their testimony of how God can bring victory through adversity is evident in their ministry. At a young age, Cheryl was involved in an accident that nearly took her life and left her crippled. After doctors told her she could never walk again, she defied all the odds and walked down the runway as she was crowned Miss America in 1980. Harry had a burdensome childhood at age 10 after his father passed away; leaving him with the mandate to be the man of the house for his mother and sisters. When both Harry and Cheryl encountered Jesus, their lives were never the same! You will be encouraged in the Word and strengthened in your faith as you hear the heart of God through the ministry and message of Harry and …

My Female Beatbox Mentor

April 23, 2016 at 05:34PM

Elaine FinnellElaine Finnell (formerly known as Elaine Chao) is one of my earliest beatbox mentors. It's due to her inspirational Apollo live televised performance in 2003 that sparked an interest for me to pursue beatboxing professionally. Her snares, her mouth drumming, her scratches, crowd interaction is so on point!!! She was a co-worker of one of my first-cousins from the Bay Area.... who I am very close with. Elaine and I exchanged e-mails and she gave me wisdom and advice that it stuck with me forever. I apply everything she shared with me. It it weren't for her.. I wouldn't be the beatboxer that I am today. Thank you Elaine!!! You're the greatest female human beatbox of all time in my book!

Freelance Fam and Tom Thum

February 8, 2016 at 08:51AM

Spent quality time and enjoyed a meal together with the Freelance Fam Duke and Kiki King! We've believed in each other since the first time we met and have really grown together. We went through so much together, and we're a team! Words alone cannot express my level of gratitude for all the years of growing with the Freelance Fam!

I also received these "Jason Tom" handstyles by Tom Thum, fellow TEDx Talk beatboxer alumni. Not only is Tom Thum a world class beatboxer, but he also has talent in art and handstyles, bombing, and he was also a b-boy. My former beatbox students look up to him. I have tremendous respect for Tom Thum... I first took notice of him at the 1st Beatbox Battle World Championship in 2005... he was the first World Beatbox Tag Team Cha…

I love her. My niece loves to dance when I beatbox for her. She's adorable and she calls me, \
I venerate our US Veterans and those serving in our Armed Forces! When I received that call to visit and perform for and honor our American Veterans at US Vets Barber's Point Kapolei. No doubt, do I not just answer that call, I settle that call. I met an incredible veteran by the name of Charles with great focus and head on his shoulders and with words of edification and encouragement he and I prayed for one another. Thank you Nicole Lam, Prisma Dance, and to our great US Veterans. To those who served our country, I salute you great men and women for having served our great and beautiful nation called America. To those who are currently serving in our Armed Forces in the army, navy, air force, coastal guard, and marine corps, I too honor, venerate and I appreciate your service and I too salute you brave men and women.

This is just one of the reasons why I get out there to do what I do day in and day out. Night in and night out. I am stoked there is no clocking in and no clocking out. No complaints here in doing my line of work. I don't tire in my work, because I don't mind working what I love and working with excellent people. I love being able to answer the call, share these gifts, devote time and talent to uplift the young patients at Shriners Hospital for Children. This is bigger than my gift and bigger than me, myself and I. It's about helping and assisting and uplifting others. To be kind to one another, and to genuinely care for our neighbor, our family. It's one of the most rewarding experiences to see the many smiles and to hear the laughter of those patients. Thank you Nicole Lam, Prisma Dance, Angela Keen, and Shriners Hospital for Children!
So great to reunite with Angela Keen! Tonight, I had an honor to volunteer my time at Shriners Hospital for Children with Prisma Dance as we cheered the young patients there up. I beatboxed and danced for them and offered beatbox lessons. They rocked the microphone and all. They were incredible! I loved every moment, especially when one of the patients in his wheelchair rocked the beatboxing on my microphone and my dance buddy Henry danced to his beatboxing. That was something I had not seen in all 13 of my years performing live. It was rewarding to see their smiles and the patients enjoying himself and herself. All of the dancers did great too from ballet, jazz, acrobatics to hip hop, and our dance contest. I loved it all!

As for Angela Keen, growing up in Honolulu I watched her as a news anchor and I didn't think then that she'd one day interview me at the First Inaugural TEDx Honolulu Conference years back. She asked me great questions. She also knows my good friend Jody Kamisato and I told her he said, \
Spent quality time performing music, dance, and sharing words of edification, encouragement, honor, praise, desserts, and prayers with Prisma Dance to our brave and strong American veterans at US Vets in Barber's Point Kapolei last week. Here Hiro and I improvised on our viola and beatbox collaboration. We had blessed time.

I am grateful and blessed to have an honor to have volunteered my time with Prisma Dance and to have performed for, converse with and pray for our brave and strong American veterans at US Vets in Barber's Point Kapolei last week. I am grateful to our American veterans for having served our great and beautiful nation.

2017 is wrapping up. What a fruitful year 2017 is. The biggest loss was when I lost my father on this Father's Day. I've honored my father's last wishes for what he wants and wanted me to fulfill in life. I am also working on another one of his final wish for me. My father didn't make it for his 85th birthday. There is not a day I don't think of my father or miss him. Father God has shown my earthly father at his best in my visions and dreams since his passing on multiple occasions that brought great comfort and peace.

Staying productive with the beatboxing....
