I want to thank those of you who wished me an early Happy Birthday so far and those of you who wrote and called on wanting to celebrate my birthday this year.

This month thus far I've been remaining active and fruitful. Tomorrow is my official birthday and you can wish me a happy birthday on this blog post. You may also enjoy below my guest appearance and visit on Thanksgiving Friends Day at Calvary Assembly of God, book shopping at Barnes And Noble, and six video clips from my performance at the International Hawaii Chinese Cultural Arts Festival.

Threefold Ministry

November 15, 2017 at 04:39PM

How we carry ourselves is a matter of our character. I just came off from a deep phone conversation with my dear friend and a great mentor. Offline, I have also been journaling about how I am carrying myself today as a man. It is an issue of my heart that I am manning up and wanting to take ownership of and work to establish. I am intentional with Father God to work on these areas in my life. God knows that for me if any of it is not of standard then I deem it unacceptable for me. If it's not of God's standard, it's good news that there is room for me to grow and mature, because none of us living today, have arrived. It is threefold....

1. Career: How I carry myself on and off stage.
2. Place of Worship: How I carry and conduct myself at church and outside of…

Veterans Day Legacy And Human Beatbox Workshops

November 11, 2017 at 07:00AM

I hope we, you and I, are able spend this Veteran's Day to reflect upon the brave men and women for their great service in our United States Armed Forces in the branches of Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. If you are a veteran or know someone who served, please feel free to pay homage to him and her by scrolling to the bottom of this post to leave a blog comment on this Veterans Day. I also share in this post my homage to an Army Veteran who is very dear to my heart and I also share about my recent desire to join the United States Air Force.

Happy Birthday Jake Shimabukuro

November 4, 2017 at 04:51AM

Happy Birthday Jake Shimabukuro! Did you know, exactly 11 years ago on his birthday, Jake Shimabukuro and I first performed together? It is considered a fan favorite and it is still talked about today. I still run into people who were at that show 11 years ago. In fact I ran into our old friend Matt last night and Matt talked with me about my performance with Jake 11 years ago. Also, did you know, Jake Shimabukuro was also the very first musician I've ever collaborated live with. Was I nervous then? Heaven's yes. Jake has always been one of my heroes before I jumped into the scene and he still is today. Earlier this year I gave Jake a surprise visit at Iolani School. People buzzed about our photo taken together and our fans want us to do something together. How a…

Jason Tom Top 25 Video Marathon

November 3, 2017 at 09:15PM

Jason Tom beatboxing live and headlining Art After Dark at the Honolulu Museum of Art.

Ever ran a marathon or watched a marathon of your favorite television series? Growing up, I watched TV marathons for "I Love Lucy" and the 1950's classic "Adventures of Superman" that starred George Reeves. When I reflected I remember how my late grandmother on my father's side enjoyed watching the black and white version of Adventures of Superman with me. On this year's Father's Day I lost my father and this marathon is the result and the fruit of my father's labor of love and hard work. Marathon? Yes, I am running this marathon of my Top 25 videos compiled by the fans and our community on my blog here. Enjoy, come and join me in running this marathon. I'd love to hear fro…

Nine Year Walk With God

October 31, 2017 at 09:22PM

With Pastor Art Sepulveda at Word of Life Christian Center

Romans 12:2, "do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed in the renewing of your mind."
Jason Tom at Word of Life Emerge Youth Rally

To be intentional with Father God is to be intimate with God the Son and to be counseled by God the Holy Spirit.

When I decided to get intentional with Jesus is when the devil's plan of destruction over my life failed. Not overnight. Had the devil's plans succeeded last year I would not be alive to write my first faith blog post today, literally, and October 24th marked my ninth year intentional walk with Father God. The devil flunked the course when Jesus rescued and avenged me on the behalf of me and my family. Jesus is our …

Amp Speaker Hunting

October 28, 2017 at 01:29PM

Jason Tom performed live beatboxing for American veterans at US Vets Barber's Point Kapolei. Photo credit: Brian Bat

We've heard of job hunting, but what about amp speaker hunting? As mentioned in my new blog series called "The Bachelorette" I love to shop and I love to shop for music equipment, microphones, microphone cords, headphones, amplifiers, and speakers. Did you know that finding the right speaker and amplifier is one of the most frequently asked question by beatboxers from around the world? For those who don't know what beatboxing is and what a beatboxer does, a beatboxer is a person who vocally sings rhythm, melody and musical instruments purely with his or her human voice. Yes, we are also known as vocal percussionists and our musical art form has…

What Would We Do On Our First Date?

October 27, 2017 at 11:10PM

I want to thank those of you who are reading, commenting and responding to my first post of my new blog series, "The Bachelorette."

In fact Sheryl commented, "Great blog post! Awesome way to put yourself out there. What other things do you enjoy outside of beatboxing and being a mathematician? Maybe talk about what you'd do on a first date. Perhaps some interesting fun facts about you. I think the single ladies out there would love to know more about the Jason Tom outside of his career :)"

This post here is in response to Sheryl's comment. Single ladies and bachelorettes reading this, leave blog comments on what you would like for us to do on our first date? If not with me, then someone you'd be interested in. Please feel free to have fun with this. If you…

To The Bachelorette

October 25, 2017 at 12:24PM

To the bachelorette out there, seek, find, get to know, and marry the bachelor and man of valor who is a mathematician that loves the person of God, first and foremost. He also has to know how to moonwalk and beatbox.

He looks and sounds like this... watch and listen to the video below:

The bachelor in slow motion:

Why a mathematician?
1. He'll multiply with you.
2. He will not get flustered or frustrated by difficult problems, no matter how complex.
3. He is solution minded and in a relationship he is steadfast that the relationship is compatible and peaceful.
4. He will subtract the negative integer distraction.
5. He will add quality time into his productive sche…

First Inaugural Rock The School Bells Hawaii Conference

October 17, 2017 at 12:20PM

The next day after I performed at US Vets at Barber's Point Kapolei with Prisma Dance, I arrived at the First Inaugural Rock The School Bells Hawaii Conference at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Campus. I was invited by g-girl Yoda to co-teach with her the dance and breakdance workshop. I taught students of Dole Middle School, Kalaukaua Middle School and Farrington High School the background and foundation for beatboxing and the funk style dance called popping with the Michael Jackson Billie Jean dance routine that features the side glide and moonwalk also known as the backslide. Here I performed it a cappella with no microphone with the beatboxing that combines the Billie Jean dance. I want to thank B-girl Yoda, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Rock the Scho…

I dedicated this set to my father who passed on this Father's Day for the 3rd Annual Moon Festival at the historic Chinatown Cultural Plaza on the legendary Moongate Stage in Downtown Honolulu. I also performed my staple routine of "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson that combines beatboxing, the dance, side glide, and moonwalk or backslide on the Moongate Stage.

Patriot Day

September 11, 2017 at 04:29AM

Patriot Day proclaimed by George W. Bush is the National Day of Prayer and Rememberance of the Victims of Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001.

I remember September 11th, 2001 as clear as though it happened yesterday. It was my first year in community college.. when the terrorist attacks happened, I became depressed and I was unable to focus in my studies. My heart saddened. I voted for President George W. Bush, because he was the President to keep our country safe. I am grateful to God for His hand of protection over our great nation. I continue to lift our President Donald J. Trump, senate, congress, governors, majors and all those in authority in my intercessory prayers that God continues to give them wisdom, guidance, counsel, insight, might, understand…

Happy Labor Day Weekend

September 1, 2017 at 08:15AM

Happy Labor Day Weekend to you Jason Tom blog reader! Yes you! I commend each of you that has found your labor of love so that you can purpose each day that is directed toward your endeavor and goal in life. Maybe, you are discovering what your labor of love is today and right at this moment. What is my labor of love you ask? Most definitely, my labor of love is my faith in God, beatboxing, and mathematics, without a shadow of a doubt, it is my biggest passion and deeper is the purpose that propels me to serve others. Beneath it all, it's family, ʻohana, my Word of Life family, the body of Christ brothers and sisters, aloha, compassion, empathy, understanding, and a sense of community. Also being an uncle to my niece.

Speaking of Labor of love, I want to thank Ar…

Her Math Tutor Can Dance

August 26, 2017 at 04:03AM

I want to thank those of you (and you know who you are) that made it to my Uplift opening showcase at Ala Moana Centerstage that also featured one of the new students of the Human Beatbox Academy and dancers of reLITE, Prisma Dance, Playground Dance Studio, and the Kazu Clan. You know I am a child of the 1980's, because I beatbox and moonwalk as though the 1980's were yesterday. My math tutee has a sense of humor in how she shared my video of my Uplift opener at Ala Moana Centerstage and her hashtag read, "my math tutor can dance." What? A mathematician who can beatbox and moonwalk and dance? Get out! That is unheard of, how is that logical? Yes, it is possible.

It can be any type of read and or book, past, present or on the list of what you want to read. It can even be a comic book or a book filled with photos and illustrations. Did you know I failed the first grade, because I literally did not know my ABC's and I did not know how to read? True story. I was even made fun of, called dumb and I was teased about it growing up. I am so grateful how my mother spent extra time to use colored alphabet blocks to assist me to visually identify each alphabet and to have me say each letter so that I could audibly hear my…
