First Inaugural Rock The School Bells Hawaii Conference

October 17, 2017 at 12:20PM

The next day after I performed at US Vets at Barber's Point Kapolei with Prisma Dance, I arrived at the First Inaugural Rock The School Bells Hawaii Conference at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Campus. I was invited by g-girl Yoda to co-teach with her the dance and breakdance workshop. I taught students of Dole Middle School, Kalaukaua Middle School and Farrington High School the background and foundation for beatboxing and the funk style dance called popping with the Michael Jackson Billie Jean dance routine that features the side glide and moonwalk also known as the backslide. Here I performed it a cappella with no microphone with the beatboxing that combines the Billie Jean dance.

Moonwalk At Moon Festival on the Chinatown Cultural Plaza Moongate Stage

October 12, 2017 at 12:16PM

I dedicated this set to my father who passed on this Father's Day for the 3rd Annual Moon Festival at the historic Chinatown Cultural Plaza on the legendary Moongate Stage in Downtown Honolulu. I also performed my staple routine of "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson that combines beatboxing, the dance, side glide, and moonwalk or backslide on the Moongate Stage.

Performing police siren sounds and my original "Boots and Cats" beatbox routine.

Patriot Day

September 11, 2017 at 04:29AM

Patriot Day proclaimed by George W. Bush is the National Day of Prayer and Rememberance of the Victims of Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001.

I remember September 11th, 2001 as clear as though it happened yesterday. It was my first year in community college.. when the terrorist attacks happened, I became depressed and I was unable to focus in my studies. My heart saddened. I voted for President George W. Bush, because he was the President to keep our country safe. I am grateful to God for His hand of protection over our great nation. I continue to lift our President Donald J. Trump, senate, congress, governors, majors and all those in authority in my intercessory prayers that God continues to give them wisdom, guidance, counsel, insight, might, unde…

September 1, 2017 at 08:15AM

Happy Labor Day Weekend to you Jason Tom blog reader! Yes you! I commend each of you that has found your labor of love so that you can purpose each day that is directed toward your endeavor and goal in life. Maybe, you are discovering what your labor of love is today and right at this moment. What is my labor of love you ask? Most definitely, my labor of love is my faith in God, beatboxing, and mathematics, without a shadow of a doubt, it is my biggest passion and deeper is the purpose that propels me to serve others. Beneath it all, it's family, ʻohana, my Word of Life family, the body of Christ brothers and sisters, aloha, compassion, empathy, understanding, and a sense of community. Also being an uncle to my niece.

Speaking of Labor of love, I want to thank Ar…

Her Math Tutor Can Dance

August 26, 2017 at 04:03AM

I want to thank those of you (and you know who you are) that made it to my Uplift opening showcase at Ala Moana Centerstage that also featured one of the new students of the Human Beatbox Academy and dancers of reLITE, Prisma Dance, Playground Dance Studio, and the Kazu Clan. You know I am a child of the 1980's, because I beatbox and moonwalk as though the 1980's were yesterday. My math tutee has a sense of humor in how she shared my video of my Uplift opener at Ala Moana Centerstage and her hashtag read, "my math tutor can dance." What? A mathematician who can beatbox and moonwalk and dance? Get out! That is unheard of, how is that logical? Yes, it is possible.

Flody Mayweather and Conor McGregor World Press Tour Los Angeles

July 12, 2017 at 12:53AM

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor kicked off their World Tour in Los Angeles with this press conference on July 11, 2017 at the Staples Center. What were your thoughts on this first press conference? For me, I felt that Floyd Mayweather served Conor McGregor in my honest feedback. This was quite an entertaining press conference. This will be an exciting fight for fight fans to see on August 26th at the MGM Grand. I know Floyd is a lot older, but I am a firm believer that experience in that boxing ring will aid Floyd. As a boxing and fight fan, I do want to see Floyd put on a boxing clinic on Conor. People say that Floyd have not seen a fighter like Conor, but to me it's the other way around. Conor have not fought a fighter like Floyd. People say Con…

Jason Tom Amphitheater for KCC

July 9, 2017 at 11:04PM

Today, I stumbled upon this article "Dream Christmas Wish List for Kapiʻolani Community College" by Chris Takahashi featured on The Kapiʻo News. The Jason Tom Amphitheater made it on his Dream Wish List for University of Hawaiʻi at Kapiʻolani (my Alma mater). Unbelievable that It has been over a decade since I have officially graduated from KCC. It was not until today that an amphitheater named after me have been dreamt of and is being pitched. Got to give it up to Chris Takahashi for having dreamt that up. I have to meet this guy one day. A visionary. What an honor it would be for it to come to fruition hey? The Kapiʻo News reporter Lexus Yamashiro is currently writing up an upcoming feature on me for The Kapi'o News on my experiences as a KCC alumnus. Be…

Thank you Hawaii Baptist Academy for helping me to kick-off the Perfect Father Tour in memory of my father, who passed away on this Father's Day. I had a great time providing live beatbox entertainment, an inspirational speech, beatbox workshop, and a Q&A session for their Gifted by One Assembly.

I want to thank HBA for inviting me to perform at this assembly. I had a wonderful blast to deliver HBA's best summer yet.

Bible Shopping at Logos Bookstore

May 13, 2017 at 11:46PM

My Word of Life brother in Christ Jesus and Life Group leader and mentor John Lum on Team Wally told me recently that he wants to purchase a new New King James Version translation of the Holy Bible as his original copy has pages falling apart. Then I said that I will bless him with a new one. We kicked off our day by having breakfast at L&L Hawaiian Barbecue and then we went bible shopping for the NKJV Bible at Logos Bookstore in Kakaako. Then while we waited in line, we met this gentleman in front of us by the name of Kenny and his wife Jackie. When it was Kenny's turn to purchase their items. Kenny took John and I by surprise and he said he will bless us both. Favor! God's favor! So grateful to you Jesus for all you do! Thank you Kenny! Thank you Jesus…

Story on this Gecko, Man

May 8, 2017 at 08:51AM

One of my early comic book character creations of approximately 25 to 27 years, during my second attempt at first grade when I moved to another elementary school and second grade through third grade, is Gecko Man. I drew Gecko Man then as a reflection of who I was as a child though in an adult body with a cape with superhero strength and capabilities like laser shooting powers from my hands with a superhero body spandex suit. Kind of like Spider-Man, Ice Man, Superman, and Batman. This Gecko Man character came to me when I put my hand on a pole and I felt warmth. I thought to myself, hmm, this doesn't feel hard like what a metal pole would feel like. Instead it felt soft and warm. So I looked under my hand was a gecko chilling on the pole even though I touched it…

I venerate our US Veterans and those serving in our Armed Forces! When I received that call to visit and perform for and honor our American Veterans at US Vets Barber's Point Kapolei. No doubt, do I not just answer that call, I settle that call. I met an incredible veteran by the name of Charles with great focus and head on his shoulders and with words of edification and encouragement he and I prayed for one another. Thank you Nicole Lam, Prisma Dance, and to our great US Veterans. To those who served our country, I salute you great men and women for having served our great and beautiful nation called America. To those who are currently serving in our Armed Forces in the army, navy, air force, coastal guard, and marine corps, I too honor, venerate and I appreciate your service and I too salute you brave men and women.

This is just one of the reasons why I get out there to do what I do day in and day out. Night in and night out. I am stoked there is no clocking in and no clocking out. No complaints here in doing my line of work. I don't tire in my work, because I don't mind working what I love and working with excellent people. I love being able to answer the call, share these gifts, devote time and talent to uplift the young patients at Shriners Hospital for Children. This is bigger than my gift and bigger than me, myself and I. It's about helping and assisting and uplifting others. To be kind to one another, and to genuinely care for our neighbor, our family. It's one of the most rewarding experiences to see the many smiles and to hear the laughter of those patients. Thank you Nicole Lam, Prisma Dance, Angela Keen, and Shriners Hospital for Children!
So great to reunite with Angela Keen! Tonight, I had an honor to volunteer my time at Shriners Hospital for Children with Prisma Dance as we cheered the young patients there up. I beatboxed and danced for them and offered beatbox lessons. They rocked the microphone and all. They were incredible! I loved every moment, especially when one of the patients in his wheelchair rocked the beatboxing on my microphone and my dance buddy Henry danced to his beatboxing. That was something I had not seen in all 13 of my years performing live. It was rewarding to see their smiles and the patients enjoying himself and herself. All of the dancers did great too from ballet, jazz, acrobatics to hip hop, and our dance contest. I loved it all!

As for Angela Keen, growing up in Honolulu I watched her as a news anchor and I didn't think then that she'd one day interview me at the First Inaugural TEDx Honolulu Conference years back. She asked me great questions. She also knows my good friend Jody Kamisato and I told her he said, \
Spent quality time performing music, dance, and sharing words of edification, encouragement, honor, praise, desserts, and prayers with Prisma Dance to our brave and strong American veterans at US Vets in Barber's Point Kapolei last week. Here Hiro and I improvised on our viola and beatbox collaboration. We had blessed time.

I am grateful to our American veterans for having served our great and beautiful nation.

2017 is wrapping up. What a fruitful year 2017 is. The biggest loss was when I lost my father on this Father's Day. I've honored my father's last wishes for what he wants and wanted me to fulfill in life. I am also working on another one of his final wish for me. My father didn't make it for his 85th birthday. There is not a day I don't think of my father or miss him. Father God has shown my earthly father at his best in my visions and dreams since his passing on multiple occasions that brought great comfort and peace.
