We've heard of job hunting, but what about amp speaker hunting? As mentioned in my new blog series called "The Bachelorette" I love to shop and I love to shop for music equipment, microphones, microphone cords, headphones, amplifiers, and speakers. Did you know that finding the right speaker and amplifier is one of the most frequently asked question by beatboxers from around the world? For those who don't know what beatboxing is and what a beatboxer does, a beatboxer is a person who vocally sings rhythm, melody and musical instruments purely with his or her human voice. Yes, we are also known as vocal percussionists and our musical art form has…

What Would We Do On Our First Date?

October 27, 2017 at 11:10PM

I want to thank those of you who are reading, commenting and responding to my first post of my new blog series, "The Bachelorette."

In fact Sheryl commented, "Great blog post! Awesome way to put yourself out there. What other things do you enjoy outside of beatboxing and being a mathematician? Maybe talk about what you'd do on a first date. Perhaps some interesting fun facts about you. I think the single ladies out there would love to know more about the Jason Tom outside of his career :)"

This post here is in response to Sheryl's comment. Single ladies and bachelorettes reading this, leave blog comments on what you would like for us to do on our first date? If not with me, then someone you'd be interested in. Please feel free to have fun with this. If you…

To The Bachelorette

October 25, 2017 at 12:24PM

To the bachelorette out there, seek, find, get to know, and marry the bachelor and man of valor who is a mathematician that loves the person of God, first and foremost. He also has to know how to moonwalk and beatbox.

He looks and sounds like this... watch and listen to the video below:

Why a mathematician?
1. He'll multiply with you.
2. He will not get flustered or frustrated by difficult problems, no matter how complex.
3. He is solution minded and in a relationship he is steadfast that the relationship is compatible and peaceful.
4. He will subtract the negative integer distraction.
5. He will add quality time into his productive sche…

First Inaugural Rock The School Bells Hawaii Conference

October 17, 2017 at 12:20PM

The next day after I performed at US Vets at Barber's Point Kapolei with Prisma Dance, I arrived at the First Inaugural Rock The School Bells Hawaii Conference at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Campus. I was invited by g-girl Yoda to co-teach with her the dance and breakdance workshop. I taught students of Dole Middle School, Kalaukaua Middle School and Farrington High School the background and foundation for beatboxing and the funk style dance called popping with the Michael Jackson Billie Jean dance routine that features the side glide and moonwalk also known as the backslide. Here I performed it a cappella with no microphone with the beatboxing that combines the Billie Jean dance. I want to thank B-girl Yoda, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Rock the Scho…

I dedicated this set to my father who passed on this Father's Day for the 3rd Annual Moon Festival at the historic Chinatown Cultural Plaza on the legendary Moongate Stage in Downtown Honolulu. Performing police siren sounds and my original "Boots and Cats" beatbox routine.

Be bold! When a topic is controversial and you feel strongly about it, be unafraid to speak out in public even when in error. Most of us don't care about how politically correct a person can be over how authentic and real he or she is. It's how we learn from one another as long as we're appropriate to one another. Most of the time when we are in error we learn more. That does not mean to be intentionally in error like a troll would be, but it is good to give our best effort to speak out on tough and sensitive topics. No one cares if we are always right. Even a mathematically cannot always be right, but that mathematician will find a way to learn from his or her math errors. If you only spoke out when you are right, then you will not grow into tackling tougher topics. The moment you feel you need to stay silent on tough issues is the moment you've allowed yourself to be passive about an issue that does concern you. We have a voice for our generation. Be that voice. Use your voice. Be passionate and use your voice to advocate on the topics you want to be heard.
Do not tolerate cyber, spirit and adult bullies. Know that you are not the victim, because it is he or she who is hurting more. Then this person writes you privately to request you delete a post when it is not disrespectful. Know it's your voice and you are allowed to have a voice. Do not be silent about it. Tip: do not write back aggressively, just write to tell him or her assertively, \
